We look forward to the new year with optimism!
According to the December tradition, I would like to look back at the year of 2022. And not so much to summarize the results as to highlight the most important reference points that this year brought to our company.
Starting from February, like many companies, we experienced a decline in transportation volumes. The experience of the pandemic period told us that we should be prepared for different scenarios. Thanks to the fact that we have a large customer base and a diverse range of transported cargo, we continued to work steadily despite the challenges of external circumstances. We were able to reorganize routes and continue relations with old counterparties. We also continued to work on attracting new partners (maybe even more actively).
Challenges make us stronger, wiser and allow us to look at the situation in different ways. In some situations, professionalism comes into play, in others, creativity, and in some situations, previously unknown talents awaken. We have acquired new partners that have allowed us to deliver cargo by alternative routes. We have established new supply chains. Now we are actively using and improving them. It took us one to six months to complete these activities.
During this period, the market was actively changing. And it was then that our reputational resource allowed us to promptly solve problems that arose. It is clear that not everything could be influenced, but there were still more pluses than minuses. We were able to speed up the processing of documents, reduce the waiting time for loading/reloading of cargo, and set up a quick exchange of information.
Like many companies, we faced the reorganization of financial instruments. Every day there were some changes, adjusting to sanctions restrictions. The financial and economic department of JML worked at a high professional level. This allowed the whole team to work smoothly and without serious drawdowns. In addition, we were able to maintain market prices throughout the year and avoid sharp fluctuations.
In 2022, many container carriers left the Russian market. However, due to the fact that JML is engaged not only in closed-cycle transportation, but also in buying/selling and leasing containers, we did not experience a significant shortage of equipment.
The team of Jam Modern Logistic is mostly made up of professionals in their field. But there are some employees who are just starting their career. We support and promote the professional development of newcomers. This year, mentoring has received a new round of development in JML. The world is constantly changing, and the future lies with young professionals.
JML has a close-knit, friendly team with an atmosphere of calm and confidence. This gives us stability and the ability to steadily occupy a certain niche of the transportation market.
In retrospect, it can be noted that our team successfully coped with the crisis situation of this year. It can be noted that in today's difficult times, people behave more unitedly. We often encounter a manifestation of understanding and support of partners. One of the landmark acquaintances of the outgoing year was a meeting with the Council of Supply Chain Professionals. An acquaintance that grew into a strong partnership. This community has become a source of professional support and a base for the development of our company and many other companies and professionals in the field of logistics.
To what extent can we talk today about plans for the next year? We plan to “keep the brand” to maintain the quality of service at a high level to continue our growth in quality and also expand and maintain our client base. We will also monitor the market situation and maintain the dynamics of transportation.
We are looking forward to the new year 2023 with optimism. The past year gave us a lot of useful experience. It is necessary to comprehend it, to understand the cause-and-effect relationships. We need to draw conclusions, analyze the gains and, perhaps, losses....
I wish all of us that 2023 will allow us to reflect, set new goals and get only good emotions :). I would like logisticians to be engaged in logistics and just do their job qualitatively, rather than fighting “with windmills” of external circumstances.
